STANDARD MRL COMPETITION RULES

  • Last Updated: 08/27/2025

All rules are subject to change without notice. MRL Administration reserve the right to increase or decrease penalties at their discretion at anytime. MRL Administration reserves the right to adjust finishing order based on the on-track actions of the participating drivers and the rules below.

  • 1.1 Radio Chatter

    • Radio communication must be kept to a minimum during all race sessions to ensure the channel remains clear for race-related purposes.

    • During caution periods, drivers may use the radio to address admins if necessary.

    • Disputes between drivers should be handled professionally, preferably after the race once emotions have settled and replays have been reviewed.

    • Yelling, cursing, blaming, threatening, or making sarcastic/negative remarks toward other drivers over the radio is strictly prohibited.

    1.2 Negative Communication

    • Negative chatter, including abusive language, threats, or harassment, is prohibited on all platforms relating to league events (radio, private messages, Discord, etc.).

    • Violating Incidents may be reported via Discord Ticket with supporting evidence (e.g., screenshots).

  • 2.1 Driver Responsibility

    • Drivers are responsible for their own internet connection. If connection issues cause cautions or incidents, penalties may be elevated.

    • If hardware malfunctions occur (e.g., steering wheel, pedals, PC, UI), drivers must move safely off the racing line and notify admins calmly.

    • Admins reserve the right to request a driver with persistent connection or hardware issues to move to the back of the field, park their car or may take further action at their discretion.

    2.2 Server Issues

    • If the entire race server experiences instability, admins may elect to restart the session, postpone, or reschedule the event.

  • 3.1 All initial race starts are on the green flag.
3.2 The restart zone will be communicated during the pre-race briefing. The leader controls the pace and may accelerate once they have entered the restart zone. If the green flag waves before the leader accelerates, the race is then green.
3.3 The leader may not use deceptive tactics (braking, sudden acceleration changes, etc.) to gain an advantage.
3.4 Jump starts must be corrected by giving the position back to the leader before completing the lap, or a penalty will be assessed.
3.5 Drivers must remain in their lane until after the start/finish line. Incorrect lane changes, laying back, or failing to line up properly may result in penalties.
3.6 Passing before the start/finish line is prohibited on all starts and restarts, except when the leader is clear to change lanes.
3.7 Admins may switch to single-file restarts at any point.
3.8 Once the field receives the one-to-go, all drivers must be in their correct position at pace speed. Laying back is not permitted.

  • 4.1 Drivers must maintain control of their vehicles at all times and remain on the racing surface. Driving through grass, infield, or access roads to gain an advantage is prohibited. Wall riding or using the wall for speed is not allowed.
4.2 Dangerous maneuvers such as brake-checking, excessive weaving, or intentional blocking may result in penalties.
4.3 Drivers must hold brakes after incidents to prevent rolling into traffic. Unsafe rejoins or spinning in front of oncoming cars may result in penalties.
4.4 If a driver retires or suffers vehicle failure, they must park in pit road or safely off the racing surface. Stopping on track and causing a caution may result in penalties.
4.5 Unnecessary contact, as deemed at the discretion of admins, is prohibited. Drivers are to be in full control of their cars at all times and to avoid contact with other drivers.

  • 5.1 Lapped cars must yield to lead-lap cars and provide racing room when possible.
5.2 When being challenged for position, it is the challenging car's responsibility to complete a safe pass. The driver being challenged must not chop, block, make intentional contact or force a driver out of the track’s racing groove to prevent the pass or on-track progression.

  • 6.1 Drivers may not act in a way to intentionally pull a caution.
6.2 Drivers involved in the caution (initial two drivers) will be sent to the back. First cause is an EOL, second cause is a black flag drive through and third cause results in a driver being parked for the remainder of the race.
6.3 Admins may classify a caution as a ‘racing incident’ with no driver at fault. However, if a driver’s actions directly or indirectly contribute to an incident that involves other competitors, admins may assign fault to that driver.
6.4 If a caution alters the finish of the race, admins may adjust results to reflect proper scoring. Drivers who slowed or avoided wrecks may be moved ahead of those who caused or worsened the incident.
6.5 “ARCA braking” (failing to slow or properly avoid other cars) will result in penalty.

  • 7.1 Retaliation or intentional wrecking will not be tolerated. This includes “payback” contact after an incident. Penalties may include points deductions, suspension, or permanent removal from the league depending on severity.

  • 8.1 All behavioral and contact-related rules remain in effect until the session officially ends (Closes). Retaliation, wrecking, or unsafe actions post-checkered flag will result in penalties. Drivers must return to pit road safely.

  • 9.1 Black flags for pit speeding, closed pits, or passing the pace car will not be cleared. Additional non-clearable circumstances are at admin discretion.
9.2 “Meatball” black flags may be cleared if the driver can maintain race pace. If not, admins may require the driver to pit for repairs. Drivers who cause incidents after having a meatball black flag cleared will face elevated penalties.

  • 10.1 Drivers must complete qualifying laps without exploiting track limits or using unfair tactics. Admins may review qualifying replays and issue penalties if necessary. Exceptions may apply for special events with prior documented direction.

  • 11.1 All registered drivers must display the official series contingency package (banner and side stickers). The banner may not be altered. Side stickers may be color-matched but must remain in the designated position. Unauthorized modifications may result in points penalties. For payout related events or races, drivers must have contingencies displayed to receive payment

  • 12.1 Entry Fees & Refunds

    • All entry fees for paid events, leagues, or races are non-refundable under any circumstances. Once payment has been submitted, the driver is considered officially entered and committed to the event.

    12.2 Eligibility for Payouts

    • Drivers must comply with all MRL rules and regulations in order to be eligible for payouts.

    • Any driver found in violation of rules that affect race integrity, sportsmanship, or results may forfeit their payout at the discretion of MRL Administration.

    12.3 Payout Timeline

    • MRL guarantees that all payouts will be processed within 48 hours after race results have been reviewed and declared official.

    • Payouts will be distributed via the payment method used for entry, unless otherwise specified prior to the event.

    12.4 Administrative Rights

    • MRL reserves the right to adjust payouts in the event of post-race penalties, disqualifications, or scoring changes.

    • Any disputes regarding payouts must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of results being made official. All rulings by MRL Administration are final.

  • In the event of a tie in the championship points, the following criteria will be used to determine the champion, in order:

    1. Most race wins.

    2. Most 2nd-place finishes.

    3. Most 3rd-place finishes.

If drivers remain tied after all criteria are applied, the higher-finishing driver in the final race of the season will be awarded the championship.
